We planted tomato seeds and tomato plants with Sophie in the school polytunnel yesterday. We have to water them every third day so they will grow in to tomatoes for us to eat!

3D Shapes in Rang a Dó

Ms. Donohoe’s class printed the faces of some 3D shapes today. We noticed that they are the same shape as some 2D shapes like circles or squares. We also traced around some 3D shapes to see that we had made the shape of 2D shapes with our pencils!

Mixing in Rang a Dó

Ms. Donohoe’s class worked in groups today to investigate what happens when we mix different substances with water. After making some predictions, we tested salt, sugar, flour, sand and coffee. We observed what happened before and after we stirred the mixtures. Some substances like salt dissolved in the water but others like sand did not. We drew the results after.

Keep Our World Clean!

2nd Class sang songs today with a special message about keeping our environment clean. They used rhythm sticks and actions as they sang. They sang about litter and learned that dog poo can be dangerous and should always be safely cleaned up!

Well done to all the boys from 4th and 6th class who participated in the FAI 5-a-side tournament at the Showgrounds recently. The boys competed very well in all their games and can be very proud of their performance. Well done boys!

Ms. Donohoe’s 6th Class and Ms. Byrne’s 6th Class have been learning how to play chess this year. Chess can improve problem-solving skills in children. Today, they participated in a chess tournament with childen from other schools. Well Done to them all.

The children in 6th Class have been learning how to play chess over the past few weeks. Chess has many benefits for the children who play it, including improving their problem-solving skills. We played chess against other children from different schools in the Project National School this week and the children all had a great afternoon!
